I am a student taking a digi photo class and therefore i needed a camera in which i could manually change all my settings such as aperture and shutter speed. However, i was unprepared to dish out the 800+ for an slr considering this is my first course. I also am into travelling and i really did not want a bulky slr yet i wanted something with the same performance. This camera meets and exceeds these expectations. The p7000 is so quick to start, the screen is incredibly sharp, and all the settings are amazing.I bought this camera versus the g11 because it can zoom while recording, has a better button/dial layout, has a 2x zoom advantage, and personally, better build quality. The remote in this package is outstanding, the 2 year extended is very useful if you are one of those people who tend to drop things. The screen protectors that came with it are okay. They work fine but air bubbles get trapped under them and are hard to get out. Instead i just went to samy's camera and got a hard 3.0" lcd protector. whatever you do not by the acmaxx protector online because it is way overpriced. I got mine for 8.99 instead of 29.99 on amazon. The sd card reader is very fast and is useful as i dont want to carry a cord everywhere i go and i have an aluminum macbook (the kind that does not have an sd card slot). The sd card that came with the package is a kingston 8gb and it wokr perfectly. For the price, this package is a steal!!!
