(More customer reviews)I bought this battery based on very good reviews on other Opteka products on Amazon.com. I also have used third party batteries on my cameras with very good performance. However as others have stated it doesn't work in the Sony A55 without some help.
Many state that it is too short but I've measured both this and the original Sony battery but found no difference in length. It is easy to think it is too short because if you push on it or put a piece of thick paper between it and the battery door it will work. What I did find is the small raised section where the contacts are mounted seem to be a bit longer than the Sony battery. How this reduces the ability to make contact I don't know.
When I first had the battery it charged in the Sony charger and still does. However it also worked in the camera the first time. After that it wouldn't work unless I put some tape on the bottom so the battery door would push it into the contacts. I ended up using it as a backup battery only because I was afraid it would ruin the battery door. I've subsequently purchased another Sony battery and will leave this one in the drawer.
